Arabic-language reference guide to arbitrary dismissal and end-of-service in Jordan under Labour Law No. 8 of 1996 (as amended) and the Social Security Law. General legal information, not legal advice — verify with Jordanian counsel. Note: the Art. 25 compensation figure is reported differently across sources.
In Jordan, statutory end-of-service indemnity (Art. 32, one month per year) applies only to workers NOT covered by the Social Security Corporation — and most private-sector workers now are covered, so their end-of-service runs through the SSC pension. Arbitrary dismissal (Art. 25) lets the court order reinstatement or compensation; the commonly applied current figure is half a month's wage per year with a two-month minimum (older translations cite 3–6 months — verify). Notice (Art. 23) is one month.
